Leaving Egypt Ministries, Obadiah D. Morris
Those awakened men who come to see the truths in God’s word and are now convicted by the Holy Spirit to go forth into the world and share this word with others who are in desperate and urgent need of hearing it will soon discover that doing so invites nothing but laughter, scorn, mockery, and ridicule. We are often teased, disparaged, or dismissed for delivering God’s message to men who show us that they simply do not wish to hear it. When we call on them to repent of their allegiance to human government and to seek the literal Kingdom of God as our only hope for avoiding the plagues that God always sends upon the Egyptian-statist systems of the world, they respond with laughter and begin searching for any excuses in the world to defend their sinful, man-made systems of government necessary or inevitable—or, in the case of statists who falsely profess to be Christians, even claiming them to be God’s divinely provided instruments of justice and law.
It is hardly any surprise that things are this reversed in a statist society like the American one today, where truth is mocked and lies are celebrated: statist societies always represent not just a perversion of law and justice, but also of truth itself. Statist societies consist of men who call evil good and good evil, i.e., of men who say that human government is needed in society and that anarchism is lawlessness and disorder. And they are all doomed to destruction — “woe unto them,” declare the prophets — for their reversal of the truth.
The statist rebellion against God
In all statist societies, then, which are always backwards and perverted social orders that stand as enemies of God’s Kingdom order, those few souls who know the most important political truths of God — that human government is a curse upon sinners who believe in it — will inevitably be laughed out of the room when they attempt to relay this message of repentance from statism and this duty to seek another Kingdom to others, or perhaps even become the objects of sabotage if the men who hear our rebukes are malicious enough. This is because all these political systems of men are set up by sinners in their rebellion to God, and so naturally one will find in them a people who are devoid of truth and were so absent of divine wisdom that they had gone into captivity due to it. Just as the Biblical prophets witnessed in their own time, the political societies before us today—our ground for prophesying and preaching on—are are naturally filled with statist idolaters. Sinners are always required to sustain and empower systems of human government, and they will always be found under these systems’ rule. It is in the erection and support for human government that men sin against God and demonstrate their primary way of rebelling against His Kingship and His anarchistic Kingdom.
Since this statism in men — both the belief in human government and the practice of administering these systems — represents man’s great turning away from God, where they separate themselves from Him by whoring themselves out to human government, it is only natural that one will always find truth-hating and God-mocking idolaters within these artificial social orders. A people who pursue the plunderous political kingdoms of man are a people who hate God and truth. As one prophet observed:
“Your sins built barriers between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear. For your hands are stained with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, and your tongue mutters injustice. No one calls for justice; no one pleads his case honestly. They rely on empty pleas; they tell lies; they conceive mischief and give birth to iniquity….Their deeds are sinful deeds, and acts of violence are in their hands. Their feet run to evil; they are swift to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are sinful thoughts; ruin and destruction lie in their wake. The way of peace they have not known, and there is no justice in their tracks. They have turned them into crooked paths; no one who treads on them will know peace. Therefore justice is far from us, and righteousness does not reach us. We hope for light, but there is darkness; for brightness, but we walk in gloom. Like the blind, we feel our way along the wall, groping like those without eyes. We stumble at midday as in the twilight; among the vigorous we are like the dead. We all growl like bears and moan like doves. We hope for justice, but find none, for salvation, but it is far from us. For our transgressions are multiplied before You, and our sins testify against us. Our transgressions are indeed with us, and we know our iniquities: rebelling and denying the LORD, turning away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering lies from the heart. So justice is turned away, and righteousness stands at a distance. For truth has stumbled in the public square, and honesty cannot enter. Truth is missing, and whoever turns from evil becomes prey. The LORD looked and was displeased that there was no justice” (Isaiah 59:2-15).
When people turn away from God for so long, as they always do when they turn toward human rulers whatever to order their societies for them, God gives these people over to a reprobate men for their persistent hardheadedness and refusal to repent, such that the truth can no longer even enter into them and their societies. This is why we find it so difficult to preach the truth to men today that repentance requires not only that they turn away from the systems of men, but that they seek God’s literal Kingdom in their abandonment of their old idols: God has given them over to a reprobate mind to have their ears closed to the truth. In all statist societies, such as the Roman-American one today, the truth has stumbled in the public square and honesty cannot enter it, the truth is missing.
All statist societies are in desperate need of prophets of God coming upon them to preach the truth and attempt to agitate men back to the great Abolitionist cause of seeking the Kingdom of God, because they are all societies full of people whose sins are either outright idolatry, which is the case with the great abundance of enthusiastic patriots and bootlickers in American society, or slothfulness to seek another Kingdom, which is the case among churchians who are sitting in pews and being propagandized by false pastors in either the gospel of statists or in their failure to actually rally their people to live like they are seeking another Kingdom. Statist societies are in need of prophets to come to them, because in every society of men who set up human rulers — these men stand as the very proofs that a people don’t know the Lord as their King — there is an absence of the truth in the land.
“Hear the word of the LORD, O children of Israel, for the LORD has a case against the people of the land: ‘There is no truth, no loving devotion, and no knowledge of God in the land!’” (Hosea 4:1).
As much as the false converts in our time — they are endless in American “Christianity” — identify the American State as God’s great blessing to humanity and think that these statists within these societies are not in need of repentance from their political ways because they are men who profess to believe in God, these men are, in fact, need of a prophetic voice to rebuke them for their sins. Contrary to all the false prophets who say such stupid things as “America is a Christian nation,” God has a far different message for us to deliver for all those who walk down the statist path in thereby prove they don’t know Him:
“Therefore you must say to them, ‘This is the nation that would not listen to the voice of the LORD their God and would not receive correction. Truth has perished; it has disappeared from their lips” (Jeremiah 7:28).
Indeed, the truth is so scarce in statist society that God has told His prophets before that if they could find a single man who knew it, i.e., who knew that statism is sin among an idolatrous people who chant “God bless America” and “support the troops,” that He would spare it from the judgment He promises against all such people who walk down the statist road of sin and bondage.
“Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem. Look now and take note; search her squares. If you can find a single person, anyone who acts justly, anyone who seeks the truth, then I will forgive the city” (Jeremiah 5:1).
Contrary to those statists who think mere professions of faith are what make one a Christian, such that they can conclude that the tens of millions of Americans who profess the Lord’s name with their lips but support human government at the same time are actually repentant men rather than men who take the Lord’s name in vain, when God looks down and sees the people of a statist society, He sees an utter lack of Godly men, i.e., men who know that human civil government is sin and God’s Kingdom is an anarchist one that is not of this world.
“I searched for a man among them to repair the wall and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, so that I should not destroy it. But I found no one” (Ezekiel 22:30).
Men of God will always be rare in a statist society, because statist societies are only made possible by sinners who substituted human rulers for the Lord as their King and who have flung God’s Law behind their backs to advance systems of man-made legal decrees and political violence. Thus, when prophets look down upon statist societies as ours today, it is difficult to one a single man of God who actually realizes just how perverted and sinful all man-made political societies really are, which all the fake Christians of the land treat as God-approved.
“The godly man has perished from the earth; there is no one upright among men. They all lie in wait for blood; they hunt one another with a net” (Micah 7:2).
Biblical anticipation of the mockery
As anyone will experience who knows the anarchist Gospel of the Kingdom of God in a world of professing Christians who still pledge allegiance to the State and thus believe in the gospels of false gods, it is a lonely world out there for the man attempting to preach the truth to a people who are not only lost in a mental state of sin and slavery, but are in a physical bondage that they fail to identify too, thinking they are already doing right by God by voting for “lesser evil” Pharaohs and even running for Egyptian office themselves.
Indeed, many people are probably afraid to preach the true Gospel in streets, knowing that they are up against a bunch of idolatrous, statist reprobates who will reject every word they say if they stood outside their false “churches” and preached the Kingdom to these pew-sitters and Caesar-praisers, who call themselves Christians but who most certainly do not know the Lord. Unfortunately in our world, standing with God often requires some conviction and courage that many people don’t have — especially considering the dangers that come with preaching His word. Most people are more concerned with making friends or appeasing others than saying what is true and right. They will easily back down when the statist hordes (or is it whores?) come out to laugh at them.
What those who mock our attempts to lead them to God and His word don’t know is that we’re prepared for it, that, as much as they think themselves to be wise and unique in fighting against the rebukes of their idolatry, the scriptures have already foreseen their mockery. We are not shocked, but prepared to combat it, knowing, as our Lord Jesus Christ has told us, that “you will be hated by everyone because of My name” (Matthew 10:22; cf. Matt 5:11, 24:9). When men laugh at us today when we try to do deliver the same message to our people as the Biblical prophets did to theirs, that statism is a great evil and brings great consequences to a society, what they don’t know that we’re already expecting it. Indeed, we can anticipate all their objections before they even fall from their mouths, because they are just the same as the statist reprobate who came out of the woodwork right before them. Far from pointing out some weakness or blindspot in our faith, as they think they are doing, we already see it coming when the statists of the world come out to mock us.
Rebuking for repentance
What is perhaps most depressing about seeing men fight against our rebukes of their idolatry rather than repent for these sins, is that we’re not here simply to rebuke and argue, though they interpret us to be proud know-it-alls in a projection of their own pride onto us, where their egos would be so stained by having to face the truth that they turn around and accuse us of being proud. Correction seems like pride to men who are too proud to repent, just as it has been said that truth seems like hate to those who hate truth. Since we are dealing with men who hold these ideas and not machines, there is always the difficulty of facing human emotions when it comes to showing men the truth. As much as denial is what flows from their mouths, men grow combative against prophetic rebukes because, deep down, they are convicted of their sins that are now being brought to light. As one philosopher, Daniel Dennet, has written, pertinently enough, “There’s simply no polite way to tell people they’ve dedicated their lives to an illusion.” This is what we’re up against when we expose statism as both futile and sinful: somehow coming up with a tactful enough way to show people that they have sought salvation through human government in vain, when their whole worldview is based around the opposite idea: that God’s anarchy is “chaos” and human rulers bring “law and order.” Not one person has ever told these statist idolaters thar their patriotism, voting, and ideology in general is sin, and now that they are being confronted with it their only reaction is to either lash out in anger or try to make a joke out of you.
Yet we are not here to bring this word of rebuke upon men simply for our own satisfaction or pleasure in arguing with each other. As all the Biblical prophets like Moses, Elijah, Isaiah, or Jeremiah knew, it was almost a burden to have to bring God’s message to the people who He had called them to deliver it to. All of them were discouraged at one time or another. Moses thought Pharaoh wouldn’t hear him. Elijah was ready to lay down and die. Isaiah asked “how long, O Lord?” when accepting his commission. Jeremiah told God he didn’t know how to speak good enough for the role (Jer 1:6). It has never been because we have necessarily wanted to or find inherent joy in it that men of God come to rebuke sin in a world where such a deviation from the truth has made it necessary. We would, of course, prefer that men had never gone down the wide, statist road of destruction — that we didn’t even have this problem of having to persuade lost sinners of the Gospel promises of peace and freedom in a Kingdom that they have not known. Indeed, all the falsely converted men who claim to be Christians when they are really Romans are nothing but a headache for God’s prophets.
But we do not do it because we are proud or seek to embarrass men. Rather, we’re here to bring a good word to them, correct them, and save them from the fate that they face should they continue down the wicked path of sin, which has its primary manifestation in whoring yourselves out to human governments who pervert law and justice and eventually destroy everything about society itself, even killing off hundreds of millions of people as they are built up and as they fall. We come not to embarrass men, as they feel in their subconscious shame for being an idolater, but to get them to turn around their ways and avoid the famines, labor camps, and the slaughterhouse. We being this Gospel of the Kingdom of God to men because we care about them, because their houses are on fire and they are in need of it.
Yet for all our work in actually caring for a people who don’t even care for themselves, about us, or God’s word, we are repaid only by being made into a laughingstock. In an effort to save statist lands from the destruction that awaits them, God sends anti-statists out into the field to rebuke the men of the world who support the evils of political rule, but they laugh at us instead of hear us out.
“Again and again the LORD, the God of their fathers, sent word to His people through His messengers because He had compassion on them and on His dwelling place. But they mocked the messengers of God, despising His words and scoffing at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD against His people was stirred up beyond remedy” (2 Chronicles 36:15-16).
Though God always prefers that all men repent and wishes that none of them should perish, at some point of refusing to hear a word of truth for long enough and persistently refusing to turn from their wicked ways, God grows weary and gives men over to the political slavery they have begged for. When a people show for long enough that they hate God, as they do so long as they pursue the human kingdoms of the world, God gives men over to their own idolatries and allows the statist systems they beg to have over them to exist as a judgment for man’s participation in the evils of statism. For not listening to God’s word, or for mocking those rare prophets who have come to deliver it to them, God gives statists over to the bondage they deserve.
“So He brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who put their young men to the sword in the sanctuary, sparing neither young men nor young women, neither elderly nor infirm. God gave them all into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, who carried off everything to Babylon—all the articles of the house of God, both large and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the king and his officials. Then the Chaldeans set fire to the house of God and broke down the wall of Jerusalem. They burned down all the palaces and destroyed every article of value. Those who escaped the sword were carried by Nebuchadnezzar into exile in Babylon, and they became servants to him and his sons until the kingdom of Persia came to power” (2 Chronicles 36:17-20).
Man’s flight from truth
One reason men run from the truth is that they don’t want to be called out for the errors they are engaging in, the lies that they have held on to for so long, or more fundamentally to the sins they have practiced but neglect to call sin. There is unfortunately a major accountability problem among modern Christians, who prefer to respond to correction by adopting a victim mentality where they imagine they are being judged, slandered, or even “persecuted” merely for taking up our prophetic responsibility to rebuke sin and confront idolatry.
Understandably, it is not easy for a man to confess that he has been living a lie for perhaps all of his life — since the days when someone first told him that he lives in “a free country.” Perhaps one of the hardest things for a man to do is admit that he has believed in lies since he was a boy and that he has never matured into a man of God, especially once these lies have gone on for a half-century or more, which for some people simply becomes a lost-cause. To hold onto a lie, even if it means you’ll be destroyed for doing it, is somehow reasoned by self-deceived men to be better than coming out an admitting they were wrong their whole lives. It’s just too much to have amassed degrees, attended seminaries, been dressed with credentials, and having led so-called churches your whole life, to have some twenty year old kid who just picked up a Bible last year to call you a statist sinner who needs to repent and actually know the Lord and seek His Kingdom. It is better, for these men, to act like they are the smart ones in the room and appeal to their own authority against the “layman” who is “obviously” just a “heretic” or a “fringe” theorist. In some ways, these men have sealed off their own brains to accessing the truth, having believed in lies for so long. As the famous Russian novelist, Fyodor Dostoevsky, wrote, “A man who lies to himself, and believes his own lies, becomes unable to recognize truth, either in himself or in anyone else.”
Such is largely the same among the general public, who also don’t want to face the fact that their whole lives — the nice little story of the American dream — has been a lie. Men who have been told by their captors that they are “free” don’t want to hear that they are living in captivity, so they continue to buy into the lies of the system and its system-makers that they live under.
As anyone knows who is out there on the mission field trying to minister God’s word to people, it is exceedingly difficult to get anyone to hear us out and listen to what the Lord is saying. Most men are entirely too stubborn, entirely too caught up in their idols, to repent from statism and come back to the Lord. Men are often too proud to hear the things of the Lord. “They have eyes, but cannot see; ears, but cannot hear” (Psalm 115:5).
What we see, as the scriptures document, is that most men simply don’t want to hear the truth, or they believe that whatever they already hold (usually the ideas of some worldly philosopher) is already the truth. As one prophet puts it, they say,
“Do not prophesy to us the truth! Speak to us pleasant words; prophesy illusions” (Isaiah 30:10).
People would rather hear comforting lies, such that all is good and well with our statist society, rather than the uncomfortable truths of our situation, that statism is unsustainable and brings great judgment to the land. They would rather have man-kings feed them lies about coming to “save” the country, than to hear someone tell them it’s time to turn away from statism. As one prophet says, “They hate him who reproves in the gate, and they abhor him who speaks the truth” (Amos 5:11). Most men don’t like to have their views challenged, and so hate those who do it. Most men out in the world today, it seems, would sooner buy into the lies of false prophets who tell them human government was set up by God for us, than to hear from one of His prophets that they are erected by men in their sin. As Mark Twain famously wrote, “It’s easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.”
It is often hard then to ever get men to change their ways of thinking. Though God warns of the disasters of statism, men just don’t care. Though God demonstrates in His word that seeking the kingdoms of men are going to make your society a living hell where your people will be plundered by satanic, baby-eating pedophiles who will grin in your faces as they rob you for trillions of dollars worth of your property every year, men neglect His words and treat His prophets as lunatics who belong in an insane asylum.
Fighting against the truth
There is also a sort of psychological element to man’s resistance to the truth, too, although much of it is based in sin and turning to the philosophies of the world rather than the word of the Lord (Col 2:8). When men fight against Biblically supported arguments against statism like those found in this site and others, it’s usually the case that they don’t like being rebuked for things that they themselves are already involved in. They don’t want to be “called out” for their own idolatry. This is embarrassing to them, so better to close your ears than to listen. It takes a humble person to be doing something already and then accept that it’s wrong upon someone else pointing it out.
It is simply unlikely for a man who currently straps on boots for Pharaohs or wears one of his badges to accept that they are doing evil in the service of the kingdoms of men. No one wants to have their whole lives turned upside down at the rebuke of their ways, and so it’s often easier to continue in them than to change. If only men were as good at listening to righteous counsel as they were at remaining in a state of denial and ignorance.
Since the word of God brings great correction to men, they don’t want to hear it. In their judgment, it to remain in a state of error than admit you were doing it wrong. Moreover, almost as a defense mechanism, men want to protect themselves from the truth and so tell themselves lies, because it’s just too heavy for them to face the reality that they are ruled by cannibalistic pedophiles who sacrifice babies to Satan. So they tell themselves that everything is fine in the world and that even if other governments are evil, the American one is exceptional, a force for good in the world. They try to tell themselves that these things don’t actually happen; satanic ritual abuse, mass kidnappings protected and covered-up by governments, or deliberate efforts to extort mankind and carry out global psychological operations, are all just “conspiracy theories.”
Between the self-deceptions among people, the subconscious avoiding of the hard to swallow truths, and the embarrassment that one feels they would face if they admitted they were wrong, most men choose to remain in their lies and to fight against the truth whenever it comes their way. This, unfortunately, is often even more true when it comes to men who consider themselves Christians. No one who already has a flag hanging off their house or stuck to their bumper wants to be told “God doesn’t approve.” They don’t want to be told that Christians who vote for men are blasphemers who are raising up false gods against the Lord’s command to have no other gods before Him, and so they fight against anyone who says otherwise. They don’t want to be told that the police whom they praise as their heroes are not here to protect us, so they refuse to hear anything that says otherwise. They already believe that soldiers “fight for our freedom,” and so they get angry when anyone suggests otherwise. They prefer those who tell them lies, like some “chaplain” who tells them that their military service is doing good in the eyes of the Lord.
God told us all we needed to know to avoid the slavery of human government (eg., that faith in the Lord alone is sufficient for fighting off our enemies), but men couldn’t help but go and idolize men (presidents, police, etc) instead. And so God allowed the people to pursue their idols and be destroyed by them as they are today.
“Hear, O my people, while I admonish you! O Israel, if you would but listen to me! There shall be no strange god among you; you shall not bow down to a foreign god. I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it. But my people did not listen to my voice; Israel would not submit to me. So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts, to follow their own counsels. Oh, that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways! I would soon subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes” (Psalm 81:8-14).
When men insist on man-saviors like “presidents” to “make our country great again,” eventually God stops fighting with these hardheaded fools and lets them have what they’re asking for: wicked men to rule over them.
The “wisdom” of men
It’s easy to see why men get angry when we try to tell them about the ways—the ethics, economics, and politics—of God. They want to keep on believing what they already believe, or keep pursuing the foolish ideas that God has allowed them to pursue. They want to “eat the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices” (Proverbs 1:31). They are ultimately fools, because they are trusting in their own wisdom rather than the true wisdom of God’s word. As the scriptures say, “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wiseman listens to counsel” (Proverbs 12:15). They are fools because they never listen. “Fools despise wisdom and discipline” (Proverbs 1:7).
It is easy to see why men who deny God lack these truths we are trying to deliver to them, believing it is found in one of the statist “intellectuals” of the world. As the scripture says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10). If men do not begin with a fear of the Lord, ie., with great reverence for the Most High as the master teacher, they have no chance at coming to true wisdom. They will remain “foolish people without understanding” (Jeremiah 5:2), foolish people who seek other men to reaffirm the foolish ideas they already hold.
Most men, then, are not truth-seekers or men who are willing to be set straight at the word of the Lord, but mostly men who seek writers and speakers who are preaching the things they already want to believe in. As the scriptures explain, “with itching ears they gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires. So they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths” (2 Timothy 4:3-4). More than a desire to seek divine wisdom, most men seek another man to reaffirm their own biases, a man to validate their economic fallacies and political errors.
Exploiting man’s sin
As we see, men often gravitate to men who defend the fallacies that they already believe in, rather than to turn to the Most High God to see what their Maker has to say about the “wisdom” they hold. This is why when they read the Bible, they interpret it as a defense of their preexisting statism, rather than an anarchist manifesto that demands they repent from their old worldly ways and become new men.
It is never really that men are solely propagandized by liars, so much as it is their sin is merely being exploited by men who preyed upon their souls to fill their already-wicked hearts with lies and provide a confirmation of their wicked statist ideas that they were already prepared to embrace on their own, in their current state of unrepentance. The statist philosophers of the world are more so telling unrepentant men what they already wanted to hear, rather than teaching them something new or brainwashing them on an entirely made-up idea that wasn’t already in their hearts. A thought experiment is sometimes proposed on which thinker or public figure one would go back and remove from history if they could, assuming that this alone would change the world. But it wasn’t really that Marx led men to be Socialists, though it’s still true he radicalized some people. Men were Marxists before Marx. They already had the violence of statism and revolution in their hearts, and Marx simply intellectualized it and made it seem philosophically defensible. If there was never a Karl Marx, there would have been someone else to feed men the lies they were already itching to hear.
Likewise, it wasn’t Hitler himself that made Nazism possible. He was simply the man who ended up as it the head of it all. If it wasn’t Hitler, it would have been someone else. The German people already had fascism in their hearts, and the Hitlers of the world played upon it. The evils of the human governments of the world only reveal the evils of the people who put them into place and support them. The violent political systems of the world are but the outward manifestations of idolatry and sin that is already present in the people. As Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn wrote, “Evil makes its home in the individual human heart before it enters a political system.” While any group of statist rulers may rile some men up for their cause, they are really only stirring up the wickedness that is already within men. It wasn’t Hitler that made Nazism possible, but the people who stood behind him. The former are nothing without the latter. As one anarchist, Larken Rose, once explained,
“I’m not scared of the Maos and the Stalins and the Hitlers. I’m scared of the thousands of millions of people that hallucinate them to be ‘authority,’ and so do their bidding, and pay for their empires, and carry out their orders. I don’t care if there’s one looney with a stupid mustache. He’s not a threat if the people do not believe in ‘authority.’”
Has God kept men dumb?
One great difficulty we face as we try to take the truth of God’s word to men—repent from your sins or be destroyed—is that the lack of wisdom in men and their refusal to hear the word of the Lord may not be entirely of their own doing (though, of course, it was their own persistent idolatries and evils that led them to this point). There is a Biblical case for God hardening men’s hearts so that they continue headlong into the disaster that they have for so long sought after by trusting in these systems of men, so that they can’t turn their societies around from the divine judgment that awaits them, which would be provided if they had the wisdom of the Lord who counsels against trusting in Egypts and Assyrias they have been caught worshiping (Isa 30:3, 31:1-3, 36:6). This was the case with the Pharaoh that Moses was exhorting to free God’s enslaved people that he was keeping in Egypt. God hardened his heart so that he wouldn’t repent and the destruction God had planned for him would come upon him (Exodus 4:21, 9:12, 10:1, 11:10). God has also caused famines of His own word so that people would remain lost who had for so long refused Him (Amos 8:11).
I would hate for this to be the case today. I pray right here that God will soften men’s hearts and turn them back to the Lord, so that they can avoid the destruction He currently has planned for our unrepentant people. While I do believe many more people are waking up than ever before, it seems that all too many are hardened in their ways and are going to keep clamoring to their political gods to save them, and that it will be too late before anyone wakes up and walks out of Egypt.
We are in great need today to call out to God to turn this reprobate people around and get them to start seeking His Kingdom. Most of the so-called Christians in America have been downright evil men who approve of Pharaoh’s police officers putting their boots down on the necks of their neighbors. They have defended the yoke of Egypt as God’s supposedly divinely appointed system for organizing society, rather than see that God’s original and final plan, which statists like them rebelled against, is an anarchist society where the Lord alone is our King and we are a free people under God. What we need today, considering that God has hardened the hearts of the statists of the world and given them over to a reprobate mind for all their evils, is to call upon God to change men’s hearts and minds and let them hear the words of truth His prophets are seeking to deliver to them: that statism is sin and makes the land a living hell for all those who trust in men as their protectors. We need God to get men to turn away from their idolatry for human government, to teach them to regard the Lord as their God and King instead of the false kings of the world that they have hitherto regarded as their rulers, and show them that His Kingdom is not of this world and its systems of authoritarian government. But we might pray in that light,
“Restore us to Yourself, O Lord, so we may return; renew our days as of old, unless You have utterly rejected us and remain angry with us beyond measure” (Lamentations 5:21-22).
Let us hope and pray that the evils that men have supported in this country—the “thank the troops” (for blowing up children) and “back the blue” (for murdering us on the side of their highways) slogans we hear all the time—do not lead God to utterly reject us and abandon us into the hands of these wicked statists forever.
Prayer
Lord God, hear us in this hour, and heal us in this day. For we have gotten ourselves in great trouble and face enormous consequences for having strayed this far from You and from the type of peaceful and voluntaryist order You desire for us. Wake men up to You and Your word like never before. Make Your word as a fire for them, and cause them to renounce the worldly philosophy of statism they have clung to for so long. Cause them to see that engaging in politics is not for Your people and that it is only giving into the man-made systems of the world. Put this evil statism into retreat, and collapse the evil and plunderous political system that it helps to uphold. Soften men’s hearts enough to be led to Your word and Your wisdom, and help us to stay strong and patient in the meantime, given how frustrating it is to try and herd the lost sheep again. Amen.
