Who Will Repair the Breach? On the Statist Invasion and the Need for Godly Action

Leaving Egypt Ministries, Obadiah D. Morris

There has been a breach in our society: the man-made system of human “government” has intruded upon the natural order of God and gained control over people, property, and liberty. We have been invaded and taken captive by human rulers who treat us as their subjects.

And yet becoming captives to state rulers, as our people are today, should (for a student of the scriptures) be no surprise to a people who have sinfully believed that human rulers were necessary in order to have society. Being occupied by men who call themselves the “government” is what you get for trusting in such evil political systems in the first place. Men who trust in men to rule them get invaded. As God promises, “Surely I will fill you with troops” (Jeremiah 51:14).

The task of our ministry is to be a repairer of this breach, to do away with the statist society that has invaded people and property, and get men to a society where we live freely, safely, and prosperously because we follow the instruction that God has given us for righteous living. We must do this, namely, by relying on the Rock of Jesus the Christ and the liberating word of God, which calls men to turn from the systems of the world that put men into chains and toward their true King.

Our duty is to work toward a free social order as God intended us to live under, and to break free from the yoke and bondage of man’s political systems. We seek to please God by restoring His natural order and giving men a place where they can live without being subjugated by the plunderous, statist society that we have found ourselves captives under.

“And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in” (Isaiah 58:12).

As it stands, there is no safe place for God’s people to dwell in today. We’re under the thumb of man’s legalized (state) robbery, with threats to our liberty looming around every corner, and as scriptures say, very few men care about this condition.

“This is a people plundered and looted; they are all of them trapped in holes and hidden in prisons; they have become plunder with none to rescue, spoil with none to say, ‘Restore!’” (Isaiah 42:22).

Our Lord God weeps that so few men have stood up to restore society as He intended it, and that most of them apologize for the alleged necessity of man-gods ruling over us.

“And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none” (Ezekiel 22:30).

We must come then to call for a restoration of the Godly society, one that is without archists (rulers), and to serve our Lord, call upon Him to remove these men who have built high places above us, and get back to His liberty and the paths He has set for us. We are all called by God to hear His word and obey it.

“Who among you will give ear to this, will attend and listen for the time to come?” (Isaiah 42:23).

However, we know the odds we’re up against. Most men do not like to hear the warnings of the prophets that statism brings destruction to society, since they would rather continue in their faith and worship of Caesars and believe that they are going to, e.g., “Make America Great Again.” They don’t like what we have to say because they hate God.

“To whom can I give this warning? Who will listen to me? Look, their ears are closed, so they cannot hear. See, the word of the LORD has become offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it” (Jeremiah 6:10).

Though most men refuse to hear the truth, we’re here anyway to prepare the remnant—those whose eyes and ears open to the evils of our world—for the inevitable collapse of the statist society (built on robbery and violence) as foretold by the prophets, and to prepare Christians to advance the non-political kingdom of God in its place, rather than to let another Roman society arise.

“And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations” (Isaiah 61:4).

God promises men a life where they are no longer plundered by men calling themselves “the government,” no longer under tribute and taxed by a parasitic caste of human rulers who don’t own the property they violently confiscate from us, no longer living under political slavery, and otherwise no longer subject to the will and “laws” of men. As the prophets speak,

“I will restore My people Israel from captivity; they will rebuild and inhabit the ruined cities. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit” (Amos 9:14).

As of now, we do the producing, and they—the statists—do the taking. We plant the gardens, but the State and its beneficiaries eat the fruit. God promises an alternative society to this system of legal theft: a society where the men who do the sowing—the producers—are also the ones who do the reaping, rather than to be robbed by men who have no rightful claim to the property that they demand under the threat of violence. The political ruling-elites have robbed us of our property and will one day face God’s punishment for doing so.

“The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses” (Isaiah 3:14).

We hope that by following God’s word, acting upon it, and trying to advance the Kingdom of God, we can avoid disappointing our God in heaven, who looks down on His creation in dismay that His people have become idolatrous statists who worship politicians, police officers, flags, and other false idols. What he sees right now is inaction among His people, a lack of agitation among the remnant to get things moving in a godly direction.

“You have not gone up to the breaches in the wall to repair it for the people of Israel so that it will stand firm in the battle on the day of the LORD” (Ezekiel 3:15).

We’ve been invaded by statists, and it has happened because of our own sin of worshiping men and setting them up in positions of power.

We must now repair the breach, ie., get the plunderers out of our social order and bring God back into it. We need to show men that their current ways of coveting their neighbors’ property through the State—as opposed to the godly method of organizing themselves into congregations based on voluntary charity—has become a snare that has brought them back into Egyptian bondage. We must teach men that the socialism that has been made out to be something that serves the “common good” has been nothing but a trap set up by the elites to get them to eat at the tables of the civil fathers, which has meant their enslavement. We must warn people of what statism means for their lives and liberty, and, in every way possible, seek to thwart the rule of the State that has tried and succeeded (for now) to thwart the society of God and subvert the liberty of His people.

The political systems that men have erected today are entirely opposed to God, notwithstanding the billions of people who mistakenly believe otherwise. The basic ethics of God—the commandment that “thou shall not steal” and “thou shall not murder,” which in secular libertarian philosophy has been stated simply as “don’t hit people and don’t take their stuff”—logically concludes in an anarchist society where there is no legal plunder of people and property by men who declare themselves as ruler-gods, where there is no God but God (it would be more accurate to say Christian anarchists are Christarchists, for we only oppose human archism, not the rulership of the Lord). For every State has its origin and continued existence in the violation of these moral principles. It subsists on taxation (theft) and uses these funds to make war (murder) on its people and others.

Everywhere in the scriptures, States are born against the will of God. From Cain’s city-state, to Nimrod’s Tower of Babel, to Nebuchadnezzar’s Babylon, to the Caesars of Rome (which murdered Jesus Christ), these statist orders are set out against God and were formed without His consent.

“They made kings, but not through me. They set up princes, but I knew it not. With their silver and gold they made idols for their own destruction” (Hosea 8:4).

Those who are seeking to be obedient to God’s will must come to promote and defend a voluntary society against the coercive political systems of men, to assert that there is no justification, Christian or otherwise, for initiatory violence (aggression) against people and their property.

Maybe then a handful of people can start seeing just how it is that we have gone so wrong. Maybe then a handful of people will stand up and take action and begin furthering the kingdom of God again, rather than rooting for the advancement of the evil kingdoms of men.
